a few quotes from movies i've seen recently

***************************************************

"As your leader, I encourage you from time to time, and always in a respectful manner, to question my logic. If you're unconvinced that a particular plan of action I've decided is the wisest, tell me so, but allow me to convince you and I promise you right here and now, no subject will ever be taboo. Except, of course, the subject that was just under discussion. The price you pay for bringing up either my Chinese or American heritage as a negative is - I collect your fucking head. Just like this fucker here. Now, if any of you sons of bitches got anything else to say, now's the fucking time. I didn't think so."

***************************************************

Harry: Tell me, exactly, how long it is that you've been working here?
Sarah: Two years, seven months, three days and, I suppose, what, two hours?
Harry: Right. And how long have you been in love with Karl?
Sarah: Sorry?
Harry: How long have you been in love with Karl, our enigmatic chief designer?
Sarah: Ahm, two years, seven months, three days and, I suppose, and hour and thirty minutes.
Harry: I thought as much.
Sarah: Do you think everybody knows?
Harry: Yes.
Sarah: Do you think Karl knows?
Harry: Yes.
Sarah: That is bad news.
Harry: I just think perhaps now is the time to do something about it.
Sarah: Right. What sort of thing did you have in mind?
Harry: How about ask him for a drink, and then maybe after twenty minutes casually slip into the conversation the fact that you love him totally and would like to marry him and have lots of sex and babies.
Sarah: You know that?
Harry: Yes. And so does Karl. Think about it. For all our sakes.
Sarah: Certainly. Excellent. Will do. Thanks, boss.

***************************************************

Mason: Are you sure you're ready for this?
Goodspeed: I'll do my best.
Mason: Your best? Losers always whine about their best. Winners go home and fuck the prom queen.
Goodspeed: Carla was the prom queen.
Mason: Really?
Goodspeed: Yeah.

***************************************************

Goodspeed: You've been around a lot of corpses. Is that normal?
Mason: What, the feet thing?
Goodspeed: Yeah, the feet thing.
Mason: Yeah, it happens.
Goodspeed: Yeah, well I'm having a hard time concentrating. Can you do something about it?
Mason: Like what, kill him again?

***************************************************

General Hummel: "Put the phone down."
Major Baxter: "I'm calling them Frank, I'm asking for more time."
General Hummel: "You're being asked by a friend."
[Baxter continues.]
General Hummel: "You're being ordered by a superior officer!"
[Baxter carries on, Hummell draws.]
General Hummel: "Now you're being given your last chance by a man with a gun."

Get busy living, or get busy dying.

yeah okay thats enough.

playing with plastique was awesome. they're a juniors team so most of the kids were in high school... some even in junior high. yeah imagine that.

we get to sb, stay with kini's friend in FT. real dorms! that was pretty cool. we go out, wander around IV, but nothing really interesting happened. i got rejected for bathrooms though :P

day one of playing was good. it was like... a combination of a team from norcal, the actual sb kids, and the psychos from sd, and we'd obviously never played together before so that was kind of a mess. we played the condors (who are going to worlds next year so they are ridiculously good) and we lost 15-5. so that was amazing.

lost another game vs another team, but it wasnt really important because we're a juniors team and thats what we expected. and then we played disco elvis from las vegas... and we won!!! 15-12 or something. then we lost to black sheep 15-6 or something? all in all, day 1 was amazing. we played really well and we got the spirit of the game award from disco elvis. and we scored at least 5 points on every team we played, which... is... well.. awesome!

then we went to one of the boys' house which was AMAZING. and this is coming from me. its just.... huge and gorgeous and it has 5 bathrooms and hardwood floors and a lovely kitchen and a gigantic backyard and wow. we ate hamburgers and brownies and watched army of darkness. then we went to the other house and we watched kill bill. and three of us were lying down on an air mattress and a 4th guy was across all of our stomachs. pretty weird stuff. then kini and i go back to FT to sleep but we cant get in so we go BACK to the house and crash there for the night.

second day was alright... we played an amazing game against LA and lost 15-11 or something. and our last game was awful... we actually got bageled. the team wasnt fun to play against and one guy in particular kept making bad calls. but it was good we lost because we honestly had nothing left in us. we only had 4 girls and 2 of us were a little injured, and they put 3 girls on so we could barely even rest between points. not cool.

then we went home. kevin got a speeding ticket from a really mean cop. showered, went to kinis, and got trashed. anddd thats my story of my weekend.

Random thoughts

-Loyalty
-Amazing Grace
-Santa Barbara

I'd rather live my whole life assuming there is a God, only to find out that there isn't, than to live my whole life assuming there isn't a God, only to find out there is.

may 27, 2004. a new birthday. iv then fridays. potato skins and riddles. and good talks. because im more important than spanish essays :P

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.

’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me,
His Word my hope secures;
He will my Shield and Portion be,
As long as life endures.

Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, Who called me here below,
Shall be forever mine.

When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we’d first begun.

It's election day, and two men pass each other on the street. One man says to the other "so, how are you voting?"

The man looks confused, but grudgingly says "I'm voting straight-ticket Republican. What about you?"

"Well," says the other guy, "I'm voting straight ticket Democrat. So basically, our votes are just going to cancel each other out. Let's save ourselves the time and trouble and just not vote today."

"It's a deal!" says the Republican. "Wow, that's a great deal, really. What a great idea."

"I know it's a great deal," replies the Democrat. "That's why I've made it five times today already."

ultimate (for this year) is basically over. the seasons over, fish veggie game is over, alumni day is over. practices have been fun but basically a joke. tuesday we watched the fish veggie game. thursday we hot boxed with a few of the guys. friday we played coed which was awesome except i laid out without a shirt on and now i have a ton of scratches on my stomach x.x and saturday was alumni day! and that was hilarious. especially the shirts.... #9 saying that "all women are psychos"

the alumni day party was awesome. the fish veggie skit was the funniest thing ive ever seen. especially plato as match and his "two inch tower of power". and yugo and whopper fighting over kini. and the marriages. oh my goodness. tried the beer bong for the first time and that was fun too, cuz well... first times of most things are usually fun ;)

black tide had an ineligible player on their roster so they got dq'd and squids are going to nationals! our women AND our men are going to seattle! ucsd rocks :) i wanna go watch but i'll be playing with some juniors in santa barbara. yeah... santa barbara again. grrr i hate those fields. i feel like i'm always playing up there. and thats all i have to say so im out!

and since i love the guardian so much, here is another quote, from last thursdays opinion section about the crossword puzzle because its ridiculously accurate about everyone working on it during lecture instead of taking notes.

"At such a numbers- and facts-oriented university, it seems curious that, when faced with a blank crossword puzzle, UCSD students suddenly appear to gain such an appreciation for wordplay. But, at a more basic level, our infatuation with crosswords is easily explained.

Doing crosswords, like hanging out in coffee shops while wearing trendy eyeglasses, is all about image. And Southern Californian college students are obsessed with image. Having a head crammed full with random knowledge is, in itself, useless. But channeling that random knowledge toward crossword puzzles? It’s validating! It’s brilliant! And best of all, it’ll keep you from ever having to interact with the person sitting next to you in class!

Secondly, the basic priorities of college students are as follows: food, sleep, hedonism, “Simpsons” trivia and the avoidance of studying. Crosswords are a great way to avoid studying and — should you find yourself in a lecture by some terrible accident — an easy way to avoid being tainted by the knowledge of professors and lecturers. And crosswords even include the occasional “Simpsons”-related clue."

and in conclusion...

"Crossword puzzles are a threat to all we hold dear as Americans and as college students. One minute you're an innocent kid idly working on the Jumble on a Sunday afternoon; the next minute you’re in college, furiously filling in crosswords - avoiding what you should be doing, like having lots of casual sex and drinking until you forget your name."

cause i'm addicted too :P

i figure i wont read this unless im in some kind of reminiscent mood, so i probably wanna post the things i wanna remember. from the guardian on april 19th in the opinion section regarding greeks

pro:

"Aside from maybe the Board Club and ultimate frisbee team, the Greeks are pretty much the only campuswide organizations that throw good enough parties for the average UCSD student to put down that physics book or stop playing Counter-Strike for a few hours."

con:

"There are more noticeable examples, such as the Ultimate Frisbee team, Ché Café, or any number of religious clubs in which strong social bonds are formed. These benefits are achieved without heavy fees, exclusion of a large portion of the student body, and complicated initiation processes."

yeah squids and psychos :)
